I: Lessons that I Learn

1: How to care for and love someone even we are not together.
I broke up with my ex-boyfriend at the end of 2017. He was the first one that I felt love and beloved. It was very hard for me to move on. In fact, I did not move on until I knew that he has a new boyfriend.

2: Getting to know people better.

I gave myself an excuse of busy with school and my own life that I did not get to know people around me better.

Friends used to live in the city moved far away.

I did not get to know the friends I made in Berkeley well. We graduated and moved apart.

I did not get to know my professors and teaching assistant well. I always thought they were these old people who are there to teach us. I forgot they have stories behind.

A friend passed away that I never got a chance to talk to again.

I won’t make the same mistake again.

3: It’s ok to be not ok, enjoy it while I can.

Moving to the U.S was hard, it is still very hard. But I am getting a hang of it. I started to enjoy little things here more.

I was not very happy when I was at Berkeley. However, there were many classes that I enjoyed. When I was in my last semester, I got a hang of it, but it is over now. I wish I could have more time. I enjoyed learning from this school.

I looked back on the matters that stressed me out when I was younger, none of them matter that much anymore.

II: what I am proud of in 2019

Other than that, here is what I am proud of in 2019:

1: I got my degree from UC Berkeley.

2: Writing and sharing some of my most vulnerable moments and thoughts.

3: Read 36 books from different categories.

4: Obtained my US citizenship.

III: 2020

I usually don’t make New Year resolutions. I like to make a couple of main goals and measure it every month to see what I have done to achieve them. In 2020, I want to:

1: Be a better engineer.

practice leetcode weekdays

2: Be a better writer.

write on weekends, put more thoughts on the topics I write; read every day.

3: Read 3 books a month.

10 days = 1 books

4: Be a better cooker:

cook at least one high-quality meal a week.

5: Get to know people around me better.
